The Great Depression hits home with thousands of men out of work and unable to support their families. 

January 9, 1930

Brother Bevan L.W. Hugh after his examination in the work of the Entered Apprentice Degree was then instructed in the work of the Fellow Craft Degree.

February 13, 1930

Mr. W.A. Turnbull was instructed in the Entered Apprentice Degree. Brother Bevan L.W. Hugh was raised to the sublime Degree of Master Mason.

March 13, 1930

The Worshipful Master appointed Worshipful Brother O.R. Merklin to fill the vacancy of the Treasurer's position. Right Worshipful Brother D.E. MacKenzie, District Deputy Grand Master, District No. 2 paid an Official visit to Joppa Lodge.
Mr. Thomas Reid of Newton was instructed in the work of the Entered Apprentice Degree.

April 25, 1930

The Fellow Craft Degree was conferred upon Brother Thomas Reid.

May 8, 1930

Mr. Henry Archibald Beaumont a candidate of Initiation was instructed in the work of the Entered Apprentice Degree.

June 12, 1930

The Worshipful Master attended the funeral of the daughter of Brother Thomas Reid.

July 10, 1930

Carpet for the Lodge room was a matter under investigation and research.

August 10, 1930

Brother H.A. Beaumont was examined in the Entered Apprentice Degree. Brother Thomas Reid was raised to the sublime Degree of Master Mason.

September 11, 1930

Brother Thomas George Barlow, with a Demit from Malahat Lodge 107 at Shawinigan, B.C. was elected a member of Joppa Lodge by Affiliation. Brother H.A. Beaumont was passed to the Fellow Craft Degree. The Officers for the following year were elected as follows –

Brother J.V. Beldam Worshipful Master; Brother W.J. Moffatt Senior Warden; Brother W.J. Barge Junior Warden; Worshipful Brother O.R. Merklin Treasurer; Brother J.D. MacMillan Secretary; Brother Junior Warden Champion Tyler.

September 25, 1930

Right Worshipful Brother Winslow Staples, District Deputy Grand Master, District No. 2 paid his first official visit to Joppa Lodge, accompanied by his suite. Right Worshipful Brother J.J. Mahoney, Installing Master proceeded with the Installation of Officers, as follows - Brother J.V. Beldam Worshipful Master, Brother M.J. Moffatt Senior Warden, Brother W.J. Barge Junior Warden, Worshipful Brother O.R. Merklin Treasurer, Worshipful Brother J.D. MacMillan Secretary, Brother H.A. Hancock Chaplain, Brother J.C. Cornish Director of Ceremonies, Worshipful Brother F. Hugh Installing Past Master, Brother W.S. Huff Senior Deacon, Brother A.W. Saunders Junior Deacon, Brother C.G. Bockus Inner Guard, Brother C.M. Willcock Junior Steward, Brother Junior Warden Champion Tyler.

October 9, 1930

Brother James Collyer became a member of Joppa Lodge by Affiliation

December 11, 1930

Brother Junior Warden Barnes was elected a member of Joppa Lodge by Affiliation. Mr. Andrew C. Tarves was instructed in the work of the Entered Apprentice Degree.
